CASA CARLOTA

Imagine a home that blends the warmth of traditional Mexican design with enough simplicity and flexibility to make it distinctly your own. Inside, natural materials take center stage: terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams, hand-forged iron details, Large windows and glass doors open onto patios or gardens, encouraging an easy flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. The color palette could remain intentionally understated, warm whites, earthy browns, clay reds, providing a backdrop for personal expression. This allows you to add your own touches over time, such as:bright woven textiles, serapes, or embroidered cushions.or artwork from local artisans or pieces with personal significance. The kitchen could become the heart of the home, with a large wooden table for gatherings, and tiled backsplashes that introduce color without overwhelming the space. The overall feeling is welcoming, sunlit, and lived-in—a home that honors Mexican architectural traditions while leaving plenty of room for your memories, collections, and evolving tastes to shape its character over time. Set apart from the main residence is a separate casita, thoughtfully designed with its own private entrance and walkway, allowing guests or residents to come and go independently without passing through the main home. The casita could include: Visiting family and friends Adult children returning home A live-in caregiver A home office or creative studio Rental income through a long-term tenant or vacation rental (subject to local regulations) The overall effect is a home that balances community and independence, where shared courtyards and patios encourage connection, while the separate casita offers a retreat with the comfort and autonomy of its own home.
